You will receive an email with your tracking number as soon as we complete printing and preparing your poster for shipment. For more information about shipping, visit our Shipping page.

We hope that you send your file in early enough to take advantage of our free ground shipping offer. Just know that we ship from southeastern America. Depending on your delivery address, delivery times will take 2 to 5 business days. For example, if you send your file in on Friday or over the weekend, we will print and ship your poster via FedEx Ground on Monday and you could receive your poster as early as Tuesday if your in the southeast or up to the following Monday if you are in the northwest.

If you don’t have the time to take advantage of our free shipping offer, you can always upgrade your poster to next day, 2 day or 3 day delivery. If you choose next day deliver in the example above, you will receive your poster on Tuesday.

We guarantee that we will ship your poster by the next business day if received by 6pm. After we deliver your order to FedEx, you’re in their hands. It has been our experience that FedEx is very reliable. The only times we see problems is when there is inclement weather. We suggest that you have your poster delivered at least one business day early just to be sure you have it.  If you are running out of time, we can also ship to your hotel.

The good news is that this rarely happens. But if this has happened to you just know that we are going to do everything we can to get your poster to you before the time that you need it. If there is no time to resend it to the original address, hopefully there will be time to send it to your hotel or conference address. We will need a couple of pictures of the damaged shipment so we can submit a claim to FedEx. We will also need the delivery address you would like your replacement poster sent to. Unfortunately, there are times when we cannot get a replacement poster to you in time. However, if you plan ahead and order early, we can prevent this from ever happening to you.

With Big Research Posters, ground shipping is always free in the Continental US. Ground shipping takes up to 5 business days. If you need it faster, you can always upgrade to next day, 2 day or 3 day delivery.

Sure, we are happy to ship to any address that you would like. To provide the cheapest cost of shipping available, we pass on our shipping rates to you at our cost.

We are happy to ship to any address that you would like. Shipping to your hotel saves you from having to carry it on the plane. We recommend that you contact your hotel and confirm the address before ordering. We also recommend that you still plan enough time to have your poster delivered to the hotel at least a day before your arrival. You will receive an email with the tracking number that you can use to track your poster. However, you should also confirm with the hotel that they received your poster just to be safe.

Sorry, but we don’t ship on customer FedEx accounts.

The best way to ensure there are no errors is for you to review your poster in detail before submitting it to print. Some errors can only be identified by you since the poster relates to your research. The key is to make sure you review your poster at the actual print size of your poster. We recommend that you follow the review procedures listed on the Poster Review Procedures page,

We will do a basic review of your file before we print it, but we do not proofread your poster.

We have some of the lowest prices on the internet for research posters. We are able to sell our posters at low prices by keeping our costs low. We keep our manufacturing costs low through investment in our processes and we make sure we keep our overhead costs low too.

There are never any hidden fees or other charges. We charge for the cost of your poster and any shipping charges. If your delivery address is in the continental US and you use ground shipping, then your shipping is free.

Every order is shipped in a heavy duty cardboard shipping tube. This tube is great to carry your poster to your conference and for storing your poster after your conference. There is no need to purchase a plastic shipping tube, unless you want to.

We can print up to 42” wide paper. Our products are in 6” increments and our largest product is 42” X 120”. If you need a poster that is different from those listed, just round up to the next largest size poster. For example, we have a poster that is 42” X 66” and the next size up is 42” X 72”. If you want a poster that is 42” X 70”, you would round up to 42” X 72”. You can tell us of any special instructions in the Order Instructions / Comments field during checkout.

If you need a poster longer than 120”, send us an email at cs@bigresearchposters.com with the details of what you are looking for. We will help in any way that we can.

We currently only print from PDF files. We minimize the number of software applications we support in order to keep our manufacturing costs low. The more software applications that we support, the more software licenses we have to buy. So to keep your cost low, we only print from PDF files.

Creating a PDF file is very easy to do. For detailed instruction on how to make a PDF file from your Powerpoint file, visit out Powerpoint to PDF Instructions page, here.

The widest paper we use is 42” and we can print it as long as you need it to be. The 42” wide paper works best at conferences. Most conferences provide attendees an area of 48” X 96”. With the 42” paper, there is a nice border of 3” above and below the poster. If you make your poster 90” long, you will also have 3” to the left and right of the poster. The 42” X 90” poster is one of our more common size posters.

We print on a semi-gloss photo quality HP paper. This is the most common paper used for scientific posters. By concentrating on this single core product, we are able to lower our production costs by minimizing waste and purchasing supplies in bulk. With these production cost savings, we are able to offer the most competitive prices to our customers.

Unfortunately, we do not mount posters to foam board. We have found that mounted posters are very difficult to ship and best done locally.  If you are interested in doing this, check out YouTube.

Our paper and ink are rated by HP to last for 100 years, but that is in a frame behind glass. There are two things which really impact the life of a poster: Air and Sunlight. If you keep your poster stored in a tube, then you can expect your poster to last for a very long time. If you display your poster in a location that receives direct sunlight and is exposed to the air, then you can expect your poster to last at least 6 months. For long term display of your poster, we recommend that you laminate your poster. A laminated poster eliminates the air getting to the poster which provides the protection it needs to last 100 years, we guess. We are still testing how long a laminated poster will last.

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer lamination services. Because we are printing active research projects, the results do become outdated rather frequently. Most of our customers have their poster printed with the current results 2 to 3 times per year. As a result, very few scientific posters are laminated. Since the equipment is rather expensive and the number of customers requiring the service is so low, we do not offer lamination service. By focusing on our core business, we are able to keep our costs low which means lower prices for you, our customer.

Our scientific posters have a 3/16 of an inch, or 5 mm, margin.

The conference will tell you what size space you will have to display your research poster. A lot of the time conferences provide a 4’ X 8’ (48” X 96”) space. Just because they are giving you this much space does not mean that you must print a poster that size. It is common that we print a 42” X 90” poster for the 48” X 96” space because it provides a nice 3” border on each side of the poster. Unless the conference tells you specifically what size poster they want you to have, you can print any size poster that you want. It is also very common that we print smaller posters which are displayed on a 48” X 96” space.

The easiest way to get started is to use one of our preformatted templates.  You can find them, here.

For the DIYer, we also have detailed instructions on how to set up your file, here.
